Written by HItchweb Team Tuesday, June 16, 2015

What is the difference between Rhino-Rack and Thule?

Thule vs Rhino Rack

There few differences between Rhino-Rack products and Thule products and there are also similarities. Let's go over how they compare.

  1. Both systems are designed to work on vehicle's that have the flush mounted rail system and both systems will be about the same in terms of effort for installing and removing.
  2. They have similar crossbar designs and features but Rhino-Rack has crossbars that are 7" longer at 54" versus the 47" for the Thule system.
  3. Both Rhino-Rack and Thule offer a limited lifetime warranty.
  4. As far as noise, they are both similar and much quieter then most competing brands.  It's been said that the Thule AeroBlade bars may be a little quieter then the elliptical bars on the Rhino-Rack system, but both brands take the aerodynamics of their bars seriously.

Questions About Mounting A Rhino Rack Roof Rack To My Vehicle

Written by Hitchweb Team Monday, June 15, 2015

What if I get leaks in my vehicle from the Rhino Rack Roof Racks?

When properly installed, roof racks will not cause leaking on the vehicle. All roof racks are vehicle specific, to ensure you have the right rack for your vehicle, please use our roof rack vehicle search guide.

Do I need to drill holes to attach my Rhino Rack Roof Rack?

Unless you are mounting a factory style track system, or installing the backbone system there is no drilling required.

If I drill holes in my roof when installting a Rhino Rack Roof Rack, will it rust and leak?

By using the Rhino Rack Roof Rack recommended mounting positions, the racks are carefully aligned on the roof and the location of the mounting holes are marked. These holes are drilled to a safe depth and all waste metal filings are removed from the surrounding areas. These holes are treated with a specific anti-corrosion paint and a surface using a specially formed self-sealing rivet which prevents water penetration.

Hitch Carrier UC500XL Parts Breakdown

Written by Hitchweb Team Wednesday, June 3, 2015

I received an extra bolt in my UC500-XL installation hardware. It is 3-1/2" long, has a lock nut on it, and a 1/2" sleeve. It is not shown in the manual, where does this bolt go?

Cargo Carrier - Scooter Carrier - Extra Large Hitch Mounted, Fits 2

The bolt can be used if the you do NOT want to use the hitch pin on the hitch receiver. You have the option of using the hitch pin OR the pinch bolt. This is a semi-permanent way of securing the carrier hitch tube to the hitch receiver. There is a 2nd hole on the hitch tube where this bolt would fit. This bolt adds more stability than the hitch pin, but the down side is that it requires tools to remove.
